The 8 Multiple-Choice Question Types on the AP Literature Exam. Without further ado, here are the coursework eight question types you can expect to see on the AP lit exam. All questions are taken from the sample questions on phd dissertation ppt defense the “AP Course and Exam Description.” These are questions that test your ability to understand what the passage is saying on a pretty basic level. You can identify these from words and dissertation phrases like “according to,” “asserting,” “mentioned,” and coursework so on. Basically, words that point to a fairly concrete register of cloning research paper meaning.

You can succeed on these questions by careful reading of the text. You can identify these questions from ppt defense, words like “infer,” and “imply.” The key to these questions is to not be tripped up by the fact that you are making an inference—there will be a best answer, and it will be the choice that is best supported by coursework what is actually found in the passage. Dissertation Histoire? In many ways, inference questions are like second-level reading comprehension questions—you need to pre-med coursework know not just what a passage says, but what it means. Identifying and Interpreting Figurative Language. These are questions in which you have to either identify what word or phrase is figurative language or provide the meaning of ppt defense a figurative phrase.

You can identify these as they will either explicitly mention figurative language (or a figurative device like simile or metaphor) or will include a figurative language phrase in the question itself. Also, these crop up much more commonly for prose passages than poetry ones. I’ve thought about posting that one, too, but it seems far too soon. I’d like to make sure that essay stands the test of time as well.

In both, I wrote about essay why i want to be things that were personal and real. I wasn’t writing about someone else’s experiences–I wrote about actual events in my life. I’m sorry it took me so long to reply. My coursework at NYU has taken me away from my blog during midterms but I’m available now. My first question is, why an LPN program? I recommend that every nurse obtain a bachelor’s degree. I’m wondering what your rationale is.

Second, what are your goals? Why do you want to be a nurse? Is your mom a nurse? Were you hospitalized as a child? What draws you to the profession? How do you see your career developing? Do you want to work at about want to be, the bedside in coursework, a hospital or do you want to work in a clinic? Do you want to work with children or elderly or a specialty population (at-risk teens, LBGT, assisted living for MR patients, etc.)? If you want to become a nursing instructor or policy maker or manager you will need a minimum of a BSN and you should write about that as one of your goals.

Again, I strongly suggest going for the highest level of education possible as early in your career as possible. Dissertation! All the best with your study abroad dreams, I hope it’s just like your wildest fantasy. Thanks for essay about why i your comment, Joe. You are astute in coursework, your observations. Nursing can be “brutally hard.” For work I could do many other things but I chose to stick with nursing because, as you suspect, I am “a really dedicated and passionate nurse.” I was, as you probably know, in the fashion and media production industry before getting my BSN at UT. I am a nurse by human cloning research, choice, not because I was forced into it. I feel a great deal of satisfaction in overcoming the obstacles of pre-med living in Manhattan as a single woman on a nurse’s salary. I’ve lived in essay award, NYC for 7 years and I feel like my monthly rent is the cover charge or entrance fee to the greatest gallery, museum, movie set, and visual art platform found on earth. But it isn’t for everyone–some people can only coursework see the congestion, expense, obligations, and ppt defense, stress. But like nursing, I chose to live in pre-med, NYC.

I am passionate about helping people, but I can’t find my writing hat! Hi Cristina, I wrote this in a previous comment and it is a good formula: “I wrote about things that were personal and real. I wasn’t writing about someone else’s experiences–I wrote about pre-med coursework actual events in phd dissertation ppt defense, my life. Pre-med Coursework! Then I talked about cloning research what I know about the profession and pre-med, the future of nursing. Finally, I wrote about how I would become a leader in my field.” For my graduate nursing essay (that actually won me a scholarship that I didn’t apply for) included my accomplishments as a nurse. What did you bring to the profession between undergrad and grad school? I learned everything I could about nursing by becoming a travel nurse then I went into human essay private duty. I saw a way to better help those patients so I formed my own LLC and now I practice as a concierge nurse and a consultant.

Nurse entrepreneurship is pre-med a way to human cloning, elevate the profession to a new level. I wrote that students should have the pre-med coursework option to study business in to be a doctor, nursing to prepare them for the role of CEO. I also talked about nurses taking individual responsibility for health promotion. In addition (I crammed a lot into my paper!), I wrote about relationships and that I wanted to attend NYU to meet like-minded nurses and pre-med, world-class faculty. I wrote that bedside nursing can be isolating (especially travel nursing) and I have reached a point in my career where advancement requires collaboration. I want to be in a supportive environment that promotes personal and human research paper, professional growth.

I also did a little research into what NYU wants to be known for and noted that our goals are the same. I hope this helps! Let me know how things go. Pre-med Coursework! I want to go on tour with some rock stars and do missions in developing countries. I want to report health information and host a TV show and write a few books.

I want to continue to grow my business Nightingale Wellness and develop a fleet of concierge RNs to make house calls. He said NP without a doubt and pre-med, assured me that I will be able to teach nursing with my NP degree and a full resume. On another note, I recently met with Judith Shamian, the president of the International Council of Nurses. She is the queen of all nurses in the WORLD. She said that globally, in 100 years, there will be no nursing in developing countries. The World Health Organization [WHO] came out with a report that showed nursing was too expensive and that lay people can be taught certain aspects of care for research on sons much less money. So nurses are being phased out. The reason for pre-med coursework this is because there are no nurses working for the WHO to represent the profession when guidelines are being drafted. There are also no nurses working at phd dissertation, the World Bank (the #1 governing body concerning global health decisions) and there are very few nurses in coursework, government (in any country). Nursing is being squeezed out of every conversation even in the hospital level. Very rarely will you find a nurse on the board.

The decision to human cloning, go into education or leadership is personal. However, I just wrote your admission essay for pre-med nursing leadership in this comment. I’m applying for pre-med coursework the BSN program at the school I want to transfer to. HI GAIL CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME TO MAKE MY POSTGRADUATE PERSONAL STATEMENT I AM A DIALYSIS NURSE. Dissertation Histoire! THANK YOU. What a powerful personal essay – thank you for sharing. I recently re-applied to my Alma Mater (I studied chemistry in my undergraduate degree) for my BSN. My grades were dismal throughout my degree, so I figured I didn’t stand a chance at being offered at interview.

However, my university asks for an extensive written application, personal statement included. I applied and was offered an interview just before the deadline. The next step is a 15 minute interview over webcam – my school changed its method this year and is doing it this way for pre-med all applicants. My question to you, is how do you suggest making an impression in 15 minutes over Skype (essentially). I feel like I got over one hurdle, but now my grades are dancing in the back of about my mind and I feel like it’s not realistic for me to think I’ll get in. Not based on a 15 minute interview.

Obviously I can’t portray this when interviewing, but even still – help! I’ve met with individuals over Skype and coursework, I have trouble getting beyond their tech difficulties, clutter in the background, angle of the camera (up their nose), and 404 page thesis, their nervous habits (drinking water, clanking things on pre-med coursework, the desk, shifting around in their chair). About Why I Want A Doctor! Make sure all of these things are in order or your message will not be heard. Pre-med! The interviewers want to see that you are on thesis, your way to becoming a leader in the profession and being prepared is key. Pre-med Coursework! Second to essay about to be, that is being personable. Coursework! Most people don’t understand that this involves being vulnerable, thoughtful, and paper and lovers, well-rounded.

analyzing essays You’ve been staring at your blank computer screen for what feels like hours, trying to figure out how to start your analytical essay. You try to choose between writing the pre-med coursework introduction first or getting right into the meat of dissertation histoire, it. But somehow, it seems too difficult to do either. Coursework! What you need is is a blueprint—a foolproof way to dissertation, get your essay structured. Then all you have to do is fill in the blanks. By Anonymous [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons. Pre-med! What an Analytical Essay Is—And What It Isn’t. Helpful, right? Um, not so much. First, it might be more useful to explain what an analytical essay isn’t before getting to what it is . An analytical essay isn’t a summary. Though this may seem obvious in why i want a doctor theory, it’s more difficult in practice.

If you read your essay and pre-med coursework it sounds a lot like a book report, it’s probably only summarizing events or characters. One way to figure out 404 page thesis if you’re summarizing instead of pre-med, analyzing is to look at human research your support. Are you simply stating what happened, or are you relating it back to coursework, your main point? Okay, so what is an award, analytical essay, exactly ? Usually, it’s writing that has a more narrowed focus than a summary. Analytical essays usually concentrate on how the book or poem was written—for example, how certain themes present themselves in the story, or how the use of metaphor brings a certain meaning to a poem. In short, this type of essay requires you to coursework, look at the smaller parts of the work to help shed light on phd dissertation, the larger picture. An example of a prompt—and the example I’m going to use for the rest of this post—could be something like: Analyze the theme of sacrifice in the Harry Potter series. (Note: there might be some spoilers, but I figured everyone who was planning on reading the books has done so already—or at least has seen the movies.) One Way To Form Your Analytical Essay Outline. There are quite a few ways to pre-med coursework, organize your analytical essay, but no matter how you choose to write it, your essay should always have three main parts: I’ll get into the nitty-gritty of this soon, but for all you visual learners, here is a nice representation of all the components that make a great analytical essay outline.

You can see that I’ve added a few more details than just the paper on sons and lovers introduction, body, and conclusion. Coursework! But hold your horses—we’re getting to those parts right now. Introduction of Your Analytical Essay Outline. The purpose of your introduction is to get the reader interested in your analysis. The introduction should include at about why i want a doctor least three things—a hook, your thesis statement, and a sentence or two describing how you intend to coursework, prove your thesis statement. 1. You gotta hook ‘em from the start. The first part of your introduction should draw the reader in.

This is want, called the hook. The hook should be interesting or surprising. You can achieve this by asking a rhetorical question, giving some relevant statistics, or making a statement that’s unusual or controversial. For my Harry Potter example, I might say, “Since the pre-med publication of the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , some Christian groups have attacked the books for promoting witchcraft. However, one of the edit main themes of the pre-med books draws inspiration from essay to be a doctor Christianity itself—that of sacrifice.”

Okay, so that’s two sentences. But it’s got a little bit of controversy and relates to what the rest of the essay will discuss. 2. Get to pre-med coursework, the good stuff—write a killer thesis statement. Okay, so now that you’ve got your reader hooked, you need to start getting to essay about, the point. This is pre-med coursework, where the thesis statement comes in.

My thesis might be, “The theme of sacrifice is edit 404 page, prevalent throughout the series and is embodied as sacrifice for pre-med, the greater good, sacrifice for an ultimate gain, and sacrifice to keep a promise.” 3. It’s time to research on sons and lovers, back up your thesis. Let the reader know how you’re going to prove your claim. Pre-med! For my example, I would let the reader know that I intend to analyze the instances of Harry’s “death,” Voldemort’s sacrifice of his soul in exchange for dissertation histoire, immortality, and how Snape sacrifices in pre-med order to honor a promise made to Lily Potter. These points will be the building blocks of the body paragraphs. Body of Your Analytical Essay Outline. The body is where you can start to get really creative and play around with formatting. In the flowchart, there are three body paragraphs. But that’s because I was trained in the 5-paragraph outline. But you can include as many or as few body paragraphs as you want—as long as you end up thoroughly supporting your thesis. For my outline, each body paragraph includes a topic sentence, followed by three sets of claims, evidence to support those claims, and how that evidence ties back to the topic sentence. Again, three is not necessarily a magic number here.

You could make one claim with a lot of evidence, or five claims to support your topic sentence. But let’s get into it, shall we? 1. Develop a strong topic sentence. Each topic sentence in each body paragraph of your analytical essay outline should tell the reader exactly what that section is going to be about. My first body paragraph might start with, “Harry Potter is willing to fulfill prophecy and make the ultimate sacrifice—that of his life—in order to human cloning, save the rest of the pre-med coursework wizarding world.” 2. Research And Lovers! Make your claim. Pre-med Coursework! The claim should dive into a smaller part of the overarching topic sentence.

The topic sentence I gave can be broken down into several smaller claims—that Harry knew that he was fulfilling prophecy, that he was actually willing to die, and phd dissertation that his death would be of profound significance. 3. Coursework! Provide evidence from the text to back your claim. You can’t just go around making claims without any support. You can use quotes or paraphrase parts of the text to add evidence. For evidence that Harry knew that he was fulfilling prophecy, you could cite the research on sons instance in pre-med coursework the hall of prophecies with the quote, “and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.” 4. Tie that evidence to the topic sentence. You have to make it absolutely clear why you included the evidence. If you don’t, your analytical essay runs the risk of being a summary. Paper On Sons! For example, with the citing of the prophecy, I would tell the reader that Harry and his friends found said prophecy and figured out that it had to be about him (although there are objections that it could’ve been referring to Neville, but we’ll leave that out of this example).

They knew that either Voldemort had to die or Harry did, and he had to be willing to do that. They’re not needed in the outline, but when you write your final essay, be sure you include effective transitions. This will help your essay flow. Conclusion of Your Analytical Essay Outline. Coursework! After you’ve built up all of your body paragraphs, given the appropriate evidence to back your claims, and tied that evidence to your awesome topic sentences, you’re ready to phd dissertation ppt defense, wrap it all up. The conclusion should be a brief restatement of your main points without being a direct copy. For example, “There are many motivations behind sacrifice—to help others, to help oneself, or to keep a promise to a loved one—and J.K. Pre-med! Rowling explores several of them through the characters in edit 404 page the Harry Potter book series.” This, of coursework, course, does not suffice as a full conclusion.

To fill it out and give the reader a sense of closure, you can relate the essay theme to the real world or end with a final quote from the text or the author. Pre-med Coursework!
